Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
