Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Position After Narrating Contentious Pandemic Documentary
The "Taken" star has given his narration to a feature-length documentary that challenges the legitimacy of vaccinations and praises ex- health official the political figure.
The Documentary's Disputed Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is inspired by a well-known publication published by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the health crisis for assertions that Covid was linked to a bad strain of the flu vaccine.
The publication's co-author, the executive producer, has also written books with controversial figure the Infowars host. Heckenlively took to social media hailing Neeson's participation in the film.
A Firm Rebuttal
A spokesperson for the actor have issued a comment strongly denying implications that he supports anti-vaccine views.
"Many acknowledge that corruption might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be confused with being against vaccines," the response reads. "Neeson never has been, and cannot be described as, anti-vaccination. His considerable work with Unicef reinforces his enduring support for public-health initiatives."
It noted that the performer was not involved in crafting the documentary's editorial content and that concerns about its assertions are best addressed to the producers.
Central Claims Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the script provided by Neeson includes several controversial statements:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "blind obedience" to public institutions.
- It posits that "research has become dangerously politicised."
- Kennedy is featured saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of pandemic shots, it references a view that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Controversy and Current Issues
The film includes a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was afterwards the subject of a correction by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
Recently, the political figure instructed the CDC to change its longstanding position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is also referenced in the documentary, even with a recent study from the World Health Organisation confirming no connection has been found.
A Past Record of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the film's narrative, Neeson has in the past voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he described vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's narration stating, "This is not the finish of our narrative. This is the dawn of a fresh chapter."
